History & Evolution
The City of Chicago was incorporated on March 4, 1837. The city soon
established itself as an important transportation hub between the eastern
and western United States. Chicago was a flourishing economy. This attracted
immigrants from rural areas and other parts of the world. The retail sector
begin to grow in the city.
The city was also a major manufacturing zone in USA. The city of Chicago
underwent a rapid growth and the population of the city went on increasing.
The major landmark in the history of the city has been the Great Chicago
Fire of 1871 which destroyed a third of the city. The Central Business
district of the city was also destroyed to a large extent.
The destruction was followed by a long recovery period. In 1885 the first
steel skyscraper was built in the city. Chicago is famous for the worlds
first controlled nuclear reaction which was conducted at the University of
Chicago on December 2, 1942 by Enrico Fermi. The city of Chicago is today a
major business center in USA. The city with its rich cultural heritage and
architectural treasure, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in
the world.

Chicago is mainly visited by travelers for business purposes. Being a major

Chicago. The Navy Pier came into existence in the year 1995. Since then,
visitors from Chicago and other parts of the world come to enjoy in this
Lakefront playground. The navy Pier has something for everyone. The place is
popular among children because of the amazing rides it offers. Navy Pier has
several shopping attractions. The place also has several famous restaurants.
The Navy Pier also houses a Children's Museum and an IMAX theater. Navy Pier
also offers activities like open-air ice skating during the winter.

Sears Tower Skydeck:
The Sears Tower Skydeck is the highest observatory in Chicago. The Sears
Tower is 1,450 feet high. The highet increases to 1,730 feet (520 meters) if
we include the twin antenna towers. The tower was opened in the year 1973.
One can witness fantastic views of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and
Michigan, from the Skydeck. The tower is visited by more than 25,000
tourists each day. There are interactive museum exhibits on inside of the
Skydeck. The exhibits detail each and everything about the rich history of
the city, its past and its present. There are interactive kiosks inside
Skydeck. Visitors can get any information about Chicago attractions. The
telescopes are also available inside the Skydeck.

Lincoln Park Zoo:
Lincoln Park Zoo is loved by animal lovers from all over the world. The zoo
is open every day and has a free entry. The zoo has something to offer to
everyone. The major attraction in the zoo is the Kovler Sea Lion pool.
One can witness the Seal jumping into the giant water tank at the Kovler
sea lion pool. The other major attraction in the premises of the Lincoln
Park Zoo is the Pritzker Family Childrens Zoo. There is a AT&T
Endangered Species Carousel in the zoo. The Carousel preserves some of the
most rare species of animals and birds which are on the verge of extinction.
The zoo is a offers prefect combination of leisure and education.
There are numerous monuments in the zoo as well. The Bushman's Head is a
replica of the face of the great silverback gorilla situated inside the zoo.
The Dream lady and the limestone lion are the other most famous monuments
inside the Zoo. The zoo also has a gateway pavilion which offers services

Wheelchairs.
