History & Evolution
John Neely Bryan, a lawyer, became the first visitor to Dallas in 1839. The idea was to establish a trading post in the area. He later changed his mind and planned to establish a town in the region which is now known as Dalllas. He invited the people who had settled nearby to settle in the new town. Dallas became a part of the state of Texas in 1845.

Another major landmark in the city's history was the Gold Rush in California. Many people went to California in search of gold. Dallas got incorporated as a town in 1856. several migrants from nearby area settled in the city. The number of artists and intellects in the city was gradually growing. Nearly Two thousand people inhibited Dallas by 1860. The population of the city was growing rapidly. The Houston and Texas Central was the first passenger train in the city and it started on July 16, 1872. This became a huge factor in the growth of city's population.

Dallas became a storehouse of grain and cotton. The raw materials were exported to other parts of USA. East Dallas and Oak Cliff became a part of city of Dallas in 1890 and 1903 respectively. The history of Dallas is marked with several floods in the trinity river which has affected the loss of life and property in Dallas. The first university was established in the city of Dallas in 1915 when the Southern Methodist University opened its doors for the world. World War I was a major factor that ignited the growth of aviation industry in the region.

The major discovery that not only saved Dallas from having huge losses during depression and also led to its development was the discovery of oil. Oil was found near Dallas in 1930. Dallas has served as a venue for many famous trade fairs and trade shows. Dallas was chosen as a venue for the Texas Centennial Exposition. Apart from this the State Fair of Texas is also hosted in this majestic city. Dallas was growing in importance. America's President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas in 1963. The tragedy led to the establishment of Kennedy Memorial in 1971. From being a small settlement of a hundred people to a prosperous city of around a million, the city of Dallas has covered a long distance in a short span of time. The city is no mood of relaxing yet and is consistently growing as major city of Texas.

The history of Dallas has been marked with numerous events. The city has several historical and natural sites which attract visitors from all over the world. Dallas is bestowed with some of the world's most amazing museums, palaces, landscapes and monuments.

Sixth Floor Museum:
The Sixth Floor Museum is a part of John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza which was established in the memory of American President John F. Kennedy.

The museum's artifacts and photographs display the life, death and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. The museum houses original photographs, film and video footage, documents and artifacts related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The large collection of around 35000 items attracts millions of visitors. The museum is not only a major historical site but also a center for education. The museum also has a teacher advisory committee and it also offers an e-newsletter with resources and information useful for teaching staff.

Fountain Place:
Fountain Place is the fifth tallest skyscraper in Dallas. The sky scraper is world renowned for its magnificent architecture. The fountain palace came into existence in 1986. Million of tourists come to Dallas to witness this unique and majestic building. The design of Fountain Place resembles a large multi-faceted prism.

The large plaza at the base of the building houses several fountains. The building is a 60-story structure which is approximately 219 m high. Fountain Place covers a total area of 1.2 million-square-foot and serves as an office tower. The building has several offices of national and international corporations.
